Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger saved two penalties and converted one herself to secure Germany's victory. Despite the loss, Canada showcased a strong performance, remaining undefeated in the group stage and reaching the quarterfinals. Midfielder Jessie Fleming was replaced at halftime by fellow Thorn Janine Beckie.
