Portland Thorns FC acquire $275,000 in allocation money in trade with Angel City FC

Rocky Rodríguez departs Rose City after four seasons, appearing in 72 matches and was part of the 2022 NWSL Championship team

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have received $275,000 in allocation money, with additional conditional funds to be paid against the transfer fee threshold, from Angel City FC in exchange for the rights to midfielder Rocky Rodríguez.

“We want to thank Rocky for her contributions to the Thorns and the Rose City these past four years, she has been instrumental in helping us achieve so many wonderful highs, including our third Championship.” General Manager Karina LeBlanc said. “In speaking with Rocky a couple days ago I know she is sad to be leaving our club, but is looking forward to the opportunities at Angel City. We also want to thank Angel City for their cooperation through this process and helping engineer this unique transfer.”

Rodriguez appeared in 72 matches, across all competitions during her four seasons with Thorns FC, recording seven goals and three assists. She was part of the 2022 NWSL Championship winning team, as well as the 2021 NWSL Shield, 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup, 2021 Women’s International Champions Cup and 2020 NWSL Community Shield.
