PORTLAND THORNS SIGN MALLIE MCKENZIE TO CONTRACT EXTENSION
PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have signed rookie Mallie McKenzie to a one-year contract extension through the 2025 season, the Club announced today.
"Mallie was an excellent addition to the team last preseason and we saw her grow considerably in her rookie year, playing a variety of roles for us," Head Coach Rob Gale said. "We look forward to seeing how she continues to develop in her second season as a professional.”
McKenzie signed with the Thorns as an undrafted free agent in January following five years as a Bulldog at the University of Georgia. McKenzie made her professional debut on August 24 as a second-half substitute in the 78th minute against Gotham FC.
Additionally, McKenzie played and started in all three of the team’s matches during the 2024 NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup, recording an assist on Olivia Moultrie’s goal against Utah Royals FC, marking her first professional goal contribution of any kind. femenil also appeared in three of the team’s four matches in the Concacaf W Champions Cup, earning starts against Santa Fe and Vancouver Whitecaps, helping the team advance to the semifinals.
