
Reyna Reyes is heading into her third season with Portland, continuing to cement her place as a strong and reliable presence in the Thorns backline.
Selected as the #5 pick in the 2023 NWSL College Draft from the University of Alabama, Reyes has gone on to start 25 of 44 matches for Portland and is amongst the team’s top performers in several defensive actions since joining the Thorns as well as recording a goal and assist.
A Mexican American dual national, Reyes chose to represent Mexico at the international level with 16 appearances to date for the Mexico Women’s National Team which includes matches played at the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup. She’s also fielded for Mexico’s youth sides, joining El Tri Femenil at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups in 2016 and 2018 as well as the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship and 2020 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship.
At Alabama, Reyes started all 79 of her matches players, scoring 16 goals and assisting 5 as a defender. In addition to helping the Crimson Tide secure back-to-back NCAA DI Tournament appearances in 2021 and 2022 – making a historic run to the Final Four in the latter – Reyes was also recognized as the 2022 SEC Defender of the Year and was a semifinalist for the coveted MAC Hermann Trophy.
